The word "Vastu Shastra" comprised of two words. Vastu means the Structure / House and Shastra means the Science. Science of structures which is described in ancient "Hindu" Vedas and Purans ( Ancient scripts ) in B.C. 5000 for the benifit of humans. Hinduisam is not a religion but it is a life style to live life in stages irrespective of your God of worship. The "Vastu Shatra" is developed by people those who were knowing that our planet Earth is a globe and all planets including Earth are moving around the Sun. They were also knowing positions of every planet in our solar system with their speed of rotation arround the Sun. Astronomy was much advaned, accurate and perfected in those days. Our ancestors has recognised this five basic elements ( Panch Maha Bhuta ) 1.) Earth ( Dhara ), 2.) Water ( Aap ), 3.) Fire ( Tej ), 4.) Air ( Vayu ) and 5.) Sky or Space ( Aakash ). Vastu Shastra is a science because it is based on simple principles of science and logic. It is applicable to every structure on this earth like houses, palaces, factories, godowns, commercial places, offices, shops, showrooms, banks, schools, and temples too. One should understand the basic to apply this and I have tried to explain it in my way. Most important aspect of this "Vastu Shastra" is, it is described and written in the Northern Hemisphere of the earth and hence some of the rules are true only in north hemisphere. None of the practitioners and so called masters in this vastu shastra has realised this fact. Here I have tried to explain my modified vastu shastra by keeping all original principals of its intact. For every suggestion there is a definite reason which is derived from the law of Physics and applying simple logic. One can make his / her own observations and deliberate attempts to check its credentials. Layout of the Plot For North Hemisphere : Square or rectangle shape plot / land with all corners in right angle, all boundaries parallel to east-west and north-south, having natural ground slopping towards north or east, having natural hill on south or west and river or well on its north or east is the best. For South Hemisphere : Square or rectangle shape plot / land with all corners in right angle, all boundaries parallel to east-west and north-south, having natural ground slopping towards south or east, having natural hill on north or west and river or well on its south or east is the best. For large lands / plots / ranches the Topography of the area is more important than the shape. As per vastu-shastra, south-west corner must be right angle. It is good if north-east corner is less than 90 degree. It is also good if plot / land is wider on north side to take maximum positive impact of north pole magnetsm. While doing construction of structures on plot, it is advisable to keep more space and open areas on north side. It will be exactly reverse for south hemisphere. In general all structures should be well apart from each other to take care of light and ventilation. Alignment of Structures. Every structure you build or use should be balanced or congruent to "Natural Forces", then only it will last long and will give you a better service and results. A well-oriented or balanced House, Office, Factory etc., creats a positive impact on users. Positive forces create right intuitions to users for their better future and prospects. It is not easy to find an ideal existing structure to comply all conditions described below, but one can choose a nearest possible. While constructing a new structure you can apply almost all conditions to make it more "Force Friendly". Main "Forces" which act on any objects on the "Earth" are... 1) Magnetic Field. 2) Gravitational Force. 3) Centrifugal Force. These forces act on every object in X, Y & Z axis respectivly. You should construt or build your structure with out disturbing or obstructing their "Force Lines". All external sides of the structure should be parallel to these force lines in their respective directions to take maximum positive advantage. Magnetic field ( X-axis ) : Force lines are vitually parallel to each other, travels between North & South poles of the earth. Hence you should keep East & West external faces or walls of the structure parallel to this force lines. Obstruction will creat negative force / impact on the sructure. Gravitational Force ( Y-axis ) : Force lines are almost perpendicular to the earth surface, slightly inclined towards west ( sloping towards east ) due to the self rotation of the earth, pointed towards a central core of the earth. Hence you should keep the top roofs of the structure sloping towards East, in the direction of the motion. You can keep roofs sloping in all directions also. Never have any permanent wells, big bores, or hollow in the center of the structure. This will weaken the positive effect of this force. Centrifugal Force ( Z-axis ) : This force is developed due to self rotation of the earth along the axis (N & S poles) from west to east. Due to this force the diameter and the mass of the earth is maximum at equator. You will find most of rivers in North Hemisphere flow east to west or south-west, & norht to south-west. Hence you should keep your heavy and tall side of the structure towards West & Equator. This will apply for those who stays in North Hemisphere will be South-West side of the structure. For those who stays in South Hemisphere will be North-West side. Inside Arrangement of the Structure. Vastu-shastra has defined definite inside arrangement for house, office, shop etc. This is concluded by considering all forces, wind flow, light, rain water and comfort of living ( For North Hemisphere only ) For every direction there is a some thing as best, good and bad which is described below. East ( Purva ) : It is ruled by the king of Gods ( Indra ). From this side we get early morning sun-rays with vitamin D. Best for bathroom, verandah, balcony, exercise room, main entrance for shops / banks. Good for dining room, house entrance, porch, basement, cellar, living room, study room, open terrace. South-East ( Agneya ) : It is ruled by the God of "Fire". Best for kitchen / pantry with cooking range / platform in the south-east corner, oven, boiler, transformer South ( Dakshina ) : It is ruled by the God of "Death" ( Yama ). Best for steps going up towards south, mezzanine floor. South-West ( Nairutya ) : It is ruled by a "Demon". Best for master bedroom, lumber, first floor extention, over head water tank. West ( Paschima ) : It is ruled by the God of "Rain" ( Varuna ). Best for dining room, study room, toilets*. Good for mezzanine floor, steps going up towards south, over head water tank. North-West ( Vayavya ) : It is ruled by the God of "Air" ( Vayu ). Best for children bedroom, store room. Good for toilets*, over head water tank. North ( Uttara ) : It is ruled by the God of "Wealth" ( Kubera ). Best for living room, strong room, porch, cellar, basement, open terrace, verandah. Good for dining room, bath room, entrance. While placing this, one has to keep in mind the direction of the wind for that region. In general rooms or structures at north and north-east should be of smaller in size than south and south-west. Trees & Plants for your surrounding. Trees & Plants influences greatly on the humans / animals life. You should be careful while selecting trees & plants arround your house / vila / bungalow / factory. Given a choice, keep big trees away from your main structure. Small plants / bushes are ok near the house / factory. Plantation : Tall & big trees are best on the South, South-West and West side of the property ( For Northen Hemisphere ). Plants to Avoid : Thou Banyan ( Wad ), Scared Fig ( Pipal ), Wild Fig ( Umbar ) are auspitious trees for Hindus / Indians it is better to avoid having inside your plot or near to your structure. Life force of this plants is tremendous and it may influence negativly on miss handaling this trees. God "Buddha" got the knowldge of the universe by meditation under the tree Scared Fig. Avoid fencing of the plot with cactus / boganvileas or any other plants which has thrones. Also avoid ornamental cactus in side the plot or house. Plants to Provide : Margosa ( Neem ), Eucaliptus ( Nilgiri ) trees keep envoiment fresh. Having Holy Basil ( Tulsi ) plant near the enterance of the house is auspitious. Coconut tree ( Kalptaru ) is also under recomendation. All plants / trees having fruits and flowers ( non poisenous ) are acceptable. Planting Night Queen ( Rat Rani ), all type of Jasmies ( Mogara, Jai Jui ) near the house and bed-room windows is pleasent. Lawn with the Dhoob Grass ( Durva ) is soft and silky gives great filling to necked feets. Also this grass is fevourite of the God "Ganesh" ( Elephant God ). Simple Rules to follow in day-to-day life. If you sleep North-South keep your head at South ( for north hemisphere people ) and at North ( for south hemisphere people ) in short keep towards Equator. If you sleep East-West keep your head at West ( for both hemisphere people ). This will help to keep your blood circulation and blood supply to brain in good. This happens due to a centrifugal force of the earth's self rotation. Always sit East-West for eating food. Always sit facing North if you are in north hemisphere and facing South for south hemisphere or East ( for both ) while doing business / study for exams / meditation / yoga exercise. Important to note. You can make your life successful only if you get "right intuitions" in your mind at "right time" and "right place".
